The blazer is one piece of menswear that stands the test of time. Versatility, style, and comfort are what makes it a must-have for any man's wardrobe. Blazers are a great way to add an extra dimension to your range of outfits and can be paired with dress pants, chinos, jeans, and even shorts.
What's the difference between a blazer and a sport coat:
Blazers and sport coats are similar in form but differ in function. The sports jacket is intended to accommodate layering, can have elbow patches and is usually a more rugged construction. Blazers are more formal than sport coats and more versatile than suit jackets. The blazer is your go-to for virtually any situation that doesn't require a full suit.
Wool vs Cotton Blazers:
Cotton and wool are two common materials used in blazer construction. Cotton is a great summer fabric, but the drawback is that it can wrinkle (unless you choose a wrinkle-free option). Wool is a more versatile material than cotton when it comes to blazers and it's a true 4 seasons fabric. For a premium jacket, check out our italian wool blazers. These are wrinkle free, breathable, and available in a variety of colors like classic navy, plaid, blue and grey.
Lined vs Unlined Jackets:
Something that often goes overlooked in the blazer buying process is the lining. A lined blazer jacket. has more weight to it, and the extra layer helps weigh the shoulders down so it can appear to fit better. Lined jackets are also usually less expensive than unlined because the lining can hide imperfections in the interior finish. Unlined jackets are your go-to option for hot weather because they're lighter and more breathable. Unlined jackets made from quality wool are also easier to pack because they don't wrinkle and can fold easily. Unlined jackets also have a more natural shape and look great with casual pants.
